 Playful Interlude I: Les Puss

Dramatis Personae: Puss

                                 Puss Uno

                                 Puss Duo

                                 Puss Tre

                                 Chorus

Setting and time: Out there, before.

There is one act, no intermission.

Opening:

Puss

Just me is what’s in store,

Alone for eternity, it’s a bore.

   I’m stuck in contemplation,

   Self-reflective ratiocination.

   Cogitating, cogitating, on self alone,

   There’s never a contentious bone.

Is there a way to liven things up,

Put more in my metaphysical cup?

   Someone with whom to converse,

   Would give boredom a reverse.

   Some other could help agitate

   This self alone cogitate, cogitate.

   To move from this dilemma

   I could begin my stemma.

That would be amusing, add depth,

Avoid eons where seems I only slept.

I’ve the omnipotence to get this going,

Then watch and see where it’s flowing.

Since “My wish is my command,”

Unity’s turned into a tripartite hand!

Puss Uno

I’ve lost-found juice in this division,

What will be my new mission?

Puss Duo

Whatever ‘tis for you may not do me,

So watch what you begin ‘fore it I see.

Puss Uno

   I’ll do what I want,

   And not hesitate it flaunt.

Puss Duo

   Just a minute-eternity there,

   We’re together, you’re going nowhere.

Puss Tre

   Who says, “Just a minute-eternity,”

   I’m part of this confraternity.

Puss Uno, Puss Duo

   Who’s this interferes;

   Almost as if there’re mirrors?

   We two are complete enough,

   Don’t need additional stuff.

Puss Tre

You may reason so, but t’won’t work,

I’m equal to you, not a third-rate jerk.

Puss Uno (to Puss Duo)

   Can we reincorporate Puss Tre,

And be just a duet that way?

Puss Duo (to Puss Uno)

I’m staying exactly as I am,

And don’t you and Tre do a flimflam.

Puss Tre

Not in any hint of infinity,

Will I be part of bifraternity.

Puss Uno, Puss Duo, Puss Tre (to each other)

   What a mess we’re in;

   Did we sin?

Agitating like this, we shan’t go far,

Let’s reverse to unity like a single star….

No, no, no, no, no, no!

That’s not the way to go!

Puss Uno

   Let’s find a better resolution,

   That’ll be an acceptable solution.

Puss Duo

We could each make a thing external,

   To occupy our lives eternal.

Puss Tre

Only if I can create what I wish,

I’ll not be told, I’m not some swish.

Puss Uno

I just made some delightful matter,

It’s out there, and didn’t shatter.

Puss Duo

I’ll make some too, I’m not second rate.

   There ’tis, a beautiful agate.

Puss Tre

   Instantaneously I’ve done the same;

   I’m not some creator lame.

Puss Uno

   Our three productions are unifying!

   Together calmly, it’s stupefying!

Puss Uno, Puss Duo, Puss Tre

   They’re heating up! Fighting unity!

Didn’t the entity have divine purity?

   It’s fiery! We have detonation!

   Oh!!! What a heavenly demonstration!

Chorus (Sung to appropriate tune):

Happy universe to you, happy universe to you,

Happy universe, happy universe, happy universe to you!

Closing.
